Raindance to Offer Industry's First Nationwide VoIP Conferencing Platform
Raindance Builds Proprietary Conferencing Architecture on Level 3 Voice Network to Deliver Voice Conferencing Enhancements Only Available Through VoIPLOUISVILLE, Colo., January 13, 2004 - Raindance Communications®, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNDC), a premier provider of integrated web and audio conferencing services, today announced that after 12 months of collaborative development, it has built a proprietary conferencing architecture using new voice services from Level 3 Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: LVLT). The result is the industry's first nationwide VoIP conferencing platform delivered by a web and audio conferencing provider. Benefits to customers include greater reliability due to inherent redundancy and failover features in the network layer, as well as the opportunity for innovations in voice conferencing not previously possible with traditional PSTN conference calling.
As a result of this relationship with Level 3, Raindance® will extend the reach of its conferencing service with a universally available platform that provides users the ability to communicate whether they are calling from the traditional TDM networks, internal IP-based networks or in conjunction with IP Centrex Services. With the new VoIP platform, users can engage in voice conferences in ways that were previously unimaginable, such as dialing a local number to gain access into any conference call, regardless of the user's location.
"We're pleased that Raindance turned to Level 3 for the solutions the company required to launch its new proprietary VoIP conferencing platform," said Sureel Choksi, executive vice president of Softswitch Services for Level 3. "We have a compelling combination of local and toll-free VoIP calling solutions that give customers, like Raindance, the control they need to create new products and services for significantly less cost and without any loss in quality over comparable traditional services."
"We initially brought the idea of using VoIP in the conferencing arena to Level 3, because we knew no one else could deliver a comparable solution in the timeframe required. We've spent the past year working side-by-side with Level 3 so that we can provide our customers a VoIP conferencing solution with quality that is indistinguishable from typical PSTN conferencing," said Todd Vernon, Raindance's Chief Technology Officer. "By allowing users to pick up the phone to dial locally but conference nationally, Raindance has created an offering that is unsurpassed in the industry."
