Raindance Study Reveals Widespread Meeting Multitasking in All Facets of Business

Survey Finds 90 Percent of Audio Conferencers Are Distracted and Do Not Pay Full Attention to Meeting Content

Louisville, Colo., December 8, 2004 - A survey sponsored by Raindance Communications®, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNDC), a premier provider of integrated web and audio conferencing services, indicates that 90 percent of audio conferencers multitask by doing things other than paying full attention to meeting content. The survey also uncovered that the most frequent distractions during audio conferences include doing other work projects (70% frequency), looking for materials being discussed in the meeting (69%) and reading or sending e-mail and instant messages (50%).

"This survey shows that an incredibly large number of business professionals need help staying focused on the discussion at hand," said Brian Burch, Chief Marketing Officer of Raindance Communications. "More importantly, meeting facilitators and presenters are going to great lengths to prepare and host remote meetings and events, but the vast majority of their content is simply not getting through to the audience."

The most frequent distractions reported by audio conferencers include:

"A surprising 69% of audio conferencers say they are distracted because they're searching for the materials being discussed, and more than 80% say they would be less inclined to multitask if their conference calls included a video component," added Burch. "These findings support our belief that engaging remote meeting tools like Raindance Meeting Edition help keep participants focused, resulting in more effective and productive meetings."

Additional findings point to unproductive and often unnecessary time spent traveling to and from meetings. The survey found that 88% of respondents feel that preparing for and traveling to meetings often takes more time and effort than the meetings are worth.

Raindance commissioned the survey with Russell Research based off of 385 respondents and a margin of error of +/- 5.1 percentage points. An article with helpful meeting tips entitled Better Meetings is available for free at www.raindance.com
